You can't have a geula without a King Moshiach.

The markets are crashing.
The world is going bonkers.
Jews, non Jews are all expecting the Moshiach to show up at any moment.
But, here is the thing. How do you expect a king, Moshiach will be a king, to drop out of the sky and usher in the Messianic era when according to the law the king Moshiach will be a known sage prior to the geuala! Here is the Rambam, where we assume a person to be Moshiach before the he defeats the nations around him and before he gathers the exiles, and before he builds the Beis Hamikdash, etc.

4. If a king arises from the House of David who meditates on the Torah and occupies himself with the commandments like his ancestor David, in accordance with the written and oral Torah, and he will prevail upon all of Israel to walk in [the ways of the Torah] and strengthen its breaches, and he will fight the battles of G-d it may be assumed that he is Mashiach. If he did [these things] successfully (and defeated all the nations around him), built the Sanctuary on its site and gathered the dispersed of Israel he is definitely Mashiach! He will [then] correct the entire world to serve G-d in unity, as it is said, “For then I will turn to the peoples a pure tongue that all shall call upon the Name of G-d and serve Him with one consent.” (If he did not succeed to that extent or was killed, it is clear that he is not the [Mashiach] promised by the Torah … for all the prophets said that Mashiach is the redeemer of Israel and their savior, and he gathers their dispersed and reinforces their commandments…)
In fact as the Rambam explain Rabbi Akiva himself pointed to a person who was alive during his time as the Moshiach, namely Bar Kochba, who led a revolt against the Roman Empire to free the Holy Land. This only shows us the obligation of finding the right candidate to be Moshiach in our own days.
Like we have posted here many times, the person who is from the house of Dovid, who meditates on the Torah day and night, who is fighing day and night that Jews should act like Jews should act, fights to fix any breaches in the Torah, and fights the wars of G-d is the Lubavitcher Rebbe himself, the one and only King Moshiach!
