Kosher Teffilin.

There was once a yid in Russia who put on teffilin every day even though this evolved great self sacrifice on his part. For those who know some history about the time period can understand what that means. He eventually emigrated to Eretz Yisroel and first thing took his teffilin to the sofer. Not kosher was the answer. The teffiling were never kosher to begin with. The yid jumped up and danced and sang with much enjoyment. Why are you so joyous asked the sofer? Tomorrow is the first day I get to put on kosher teffilin! I am so very happy! was the answer.

At times we do what we can but its up to G-d Almighty as to which mitvoz we are able to perform and which not.

Hashem should sound the great shofar to herald in the coming of Moshiach Tzidkenu.

There is a custom to check our teffilin and mezuzos each year during the month of Elul to make sure that they are kosher to prepare for the New Year.
